•88 Hours for Band Camp (August 2024)
•12-15 Hours/Week for 12 Weeks (Sept through November)
•15 hours Audition Week (December)
•12-15 Hours/Week for 13 Weeks (January through April)
•88 hours for Winter/Spring Break (February and April) [Additional Compensation]
•Lighter Schedule from May to July
•Saturday Competitions TBD-(hours may vary)
Job Summary:
Pawtucket School Department is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Band Director to support the leadership and direction of our Marching Band. The Assistant Band Director will work closely with the Band Director to execute a dynamic and effective marching band program. This position requires a strong foundation in music education, the ability to collaborate effectively, and a passion for working with Pawtucket students.
Key Responsibilities:
•Assist the Band Director in planning and directing all Marching Band rehearsals and performances.
•Help develop and implement a comprehensive marching band curriculum.
•Support the selection of music and the design of field shows.
•Teach and reinforce marching techniques, musical skills, and performance etiquette.
•Conduct sectional rehearsals and provide individualized instruction as needed.
•Assist in organizing band camps, additional practice sessions, and special events.
•Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.
•Assist in recruiting and retention of band members.
•Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school staff.
•Help manage band equipment, uniforms, and other resources.
•Mentor student leaders and assist in the development of leadership programs.
•Ensure student safety and adherence to school policies during all band activities.
•Step in for the Band Director when necessary and handle additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field (or currently pursuing).
•Experience in marching band at the high school or collegiate level.
•Strong musical skills and knowledge of current marching band techniques.
•Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively with the Band Director and other staff members.
•Enthusiasm for music education and commitment to student development.
•Previous teaching or assisting experience preferred.

PAY:
•SUMMER OF 2024:$50/hour
•FALL:$3,000 Stipend
