What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Maintenance: Plumber position at Pawtucket School Department?
Building Maintenance: Master Plumber position provides plumbing services to all school department buildings, specifically identifying repair and/or replacement needs and ensuring compliance with accessibility and safety codes/regulations. This position reports directly to the Director of Facilities in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Facilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
●Analyzes blueprints, schematics, and drawings of plumbing systems to determine the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems and repairs.
●Troubleshoots and diagnoses failures in plumbing/irrigation systems to identify repair and/or replacement needs.
●Responsible for installing plumbing systems and fixtures (e.g., hot water heaters, drinking fountains, etc.), providing enhanced and/or upgraded capabilities.
●Fabricate equipment parts to meet specialty needs and/or replacing unavailable parts. Inspect buildings and facilities to evaluate conditions, identify necessary repairs, and recommend preventive maintenance.
●Regularly informs the Facilities Administration staff verbally and in writing to document the progress and status of projects (e.g., work order status, activity logs, etc.)
●Maintains and transports tools, supplies, and equipment to ensure the availability of materials required at a job site.
●Requests equipment and supplies to maintain Inventory and ensure the availability of Items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
●Responsible for meeting with contractors for upcoming projects, pricing, or review of issues related to equipment and fixtures.
●Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars to convey and/or gather
●information required to perform job functions.
●Responds to emergencies during and after hours to resolve immediate plumbing concerns.
●As directed, perform plowing and snow remova! operations
●Ability to perform other duties assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of Facilities to meet the specific needs of the Pawtucket School Department and its students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
●High School Diploma or equivalent
●Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license
●Possession of State of Rhode Island Journeyman's Plumber license
●2 years of experience as a Plumber
●Proficiency in working with computers
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
●Associate's Degree
●Previous experience in the school department setting
