Joseph Jenks Middle School The Pawtucket School Department is seeking a special educator for a specialized classroom (SID) grades 6-8.
EXEMPLARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provide specialized and individualized instruction for students with disabilities, consistent state education requirements and the students IEP.
- Positive professional and respectful conduct when communicating with professionals, students and parents.
- On-going documentation of student progress, lesson planning and communication with both parents and professionals
- Participate in developing schedules for assigned caseload of students to insure that all services required in the student's IEP are accessed.
- Development of IEPs for students in accordance with the IDEA, based on student evaluation results and student individualized need.
- Serve as a leader of the IEP team for assigned student caseload.
- Attendance and participation in Common Planning meetings with other members of the faculty.
- Communicates effectively with the school community, parents and administrators.
- Works collaboratively with teachers, support personnel, parents and administrators in advocating for students and providing necessary accommodations and modifications, as outlined in student's IEPs.
- Attends school and district-level meetings and completes other related activities as required by the Administration
- Maintains accurate and timely special education and student records.
- Collaborates effectively, with teams of professionals, students and parents, to problem-solve and resolve ongoing student concerns.
- Participate as a member of the evaluation and RTI teams, as pertains to assigned student caseload.
- Monitor student progress on IEPs, Behavior Plans, and Common Core standards and reports progress in a timely and effective manner to other members of the school team and parents.
- Attendance in all mandated Professional Development opportunities.
- Assumes other responsibilities as directed by the Special Education Director or Building Principal.
