Medical Biller/Coder

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller for an outpatient SUD day program to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and billing processes, along with experience in outpatient services. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate billing and collections for our services, contributing to the overall efficiency of our healthcare operations.

Duties

• Accurately process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and government payers.
• Review patient records and documentation to ensure compliance with coding standards, including ICD-10 and ICD-9.
• Utilize medical coding systems and DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) methodologies for proper claim submission.
• Follow up on unpaid claims, resolving any issues or discrepancies that may arise during the billing process.
• Maintain organized medical records and documentation related to billing and collections.
• Communicate effectively with patients regarding their accounts, providing explanations of charges and payment options.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate coding and documentation of services rendered.

Requirements

• Proficiency in medical terminology and familiarity with medical billing systems.
• Experience in a medical office environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, ICD-9 coding systems, DRG, and medical collection processes.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare staff.
• Previous experience in handling medical records is an advantage.
