JOB TYPE: This will be a full-time position with eligibility for full benefits upon completion of brief probationary period.
LOCATION: This position will be hybrid with 90% of your time working remote. You may be required to attend occasional meetings in San Diego.
COMPENSATION: $85k - $125k Salary; Exempt. Note: This is a starting point and may differ based on the successful candidates’ interview and years of experience.
POSITION SUMMARY: As the Project Cost Controls Analyst, you will directly support our Project Managers on various Utility projects with collaboration and guidance from the Project Manager/PCA supervisor. You may perform functions as Project Support, Central Data manager or Central Financial Analysis. This position independently performs a full spectrum of financial reporting and accounting assignments, including preparation of financial transactions, reports, and related analysis. Make recommendations on operational and accounting issues within functional areas. Performs and reviews complex work issues with minimal direction. Works in a team environment to accomplish projects and goals.
What you will be responsible for: (Disclaimer: The lists below are not all inclusive)
- Perform in function of Project Support, Central Data Manager or Central Financial Analyst. Develop project budget and cash flow/forecast plans with functional department input. Prepare scheduling reports as required and maintain forecast accuracy.
- Prepare project performance analysis, cost, and schedule status reports.
- Identify Cost and schedule variances from objectives and recommend corrective action.
- Documents, monitor and communicate project milestones and risks with appropriate stakeholders.
- Independently manage concurrent projects, assignments, and activities.
Duties you can expect day-to-day:
- Serve as a professional for financial, reporting, accounting, and control assignments.
- Recommends, and implements, proper accounting, reporting and financial treatment for projects.
- Effectively achieves required deliverables for special projects, data requests and analysis.
- Attending project status meetings, collecting progress data, and revising project plan as needed.
- Use the cost and schedule plan to determine if project objectives are achievable.
- Assess project risk and formulate contingency plans to mitigate risks.
- Complete multiple projects concurrently and provide guidance to engineering on producing complex risk analyses, studies, and conceptual designs for presentation to project sponsor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
You must have the following: (Minimum)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or its equivalent in education and experience.
- 3 years of experience in cost accounting and or scheduling.
- You should be proficient in using SAP.
If you have the following it is a big plus: (Preferred)
- Certified associate in project management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional Certification.
- Any experience using SAP Work Management to manage construction projects.
- Advanced experience with SAP and Primavera P6 knowledge
- Superior ability to interface, present and communicate across supporting organizations.
