Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Processor to join our team. This position is responsible for daily payroll-related tasks and operations. The ideal candidate will have a background in payroll processing and a good understanding of HR practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Process multi-state payrolls and manage workflow to ensure payroll transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions, including but not limited to; garnishments, child supports, tax levies, benefits, and student loans.
- Input, maintain, and process client payroll information such as wage/salary adjustments, commissions, bonuses, W-4’s, and other compensations.
- Issues and/or reissues, physical or replacement checks &/or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final pays.
- Collect and maintain confidential client and employee data in various systems.
- Resolve client inquiries and provide continuous training to new and existing clients.
- Create, process, and analyze payroll reports.
- Perform internal and external audits to evaluate potential pay and tax errors.
- Identify areas for improvement and recommend products and services.
- Complete other duties assigned.
Candidate Requirements
- 4 years of proven payroll processing experience
- Associates degree or equivalent in related field.
- Advanced knowledge of PTO accruals, overtime rules, work weeks, paid time off policies, payroll reporting, corporate tax filings, and W-2’s.
- Comprehension of federal, state, and local tax and employment laws.
- General knowledge of available payroll products and services.
- Accounting and data entry skills.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and other MS Products.
- Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proven record of working with tight deadlines while maintaining high level of accuracy in a high-volume processing and fast paced environment.
- Experience with HRIS payroll software a plus:
MPay, ReadyPay, ADP or Paychex knowledge a plus; Swipeclock Workforce Management (timekeeping system).
