The Technology PMO Center of Excellence (CoE) Director is responsible for driving strategic alignment, governance, investment performance, and operational excellence across the organization’s technology project and portfolio management functions. This role involves leading a team of Portfolio Managers, Project Managers, and PMO Enablement Specialists to ensure successful delivery of technology portfolios, adherence to standards, and continuous improvement of project management methodologies and best practices.

- Partner with the Sr. Director, PMO to refine and execute the strategic vision for the PMO Center of Excellence, aligned with the organization’s objectives.
- Lead and mentor a team of Portfolio Managers, Project Managers, and PMO Enablement Specialists.
- Provide strategic direction for portfolio and project management, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals and initiatives.
- Drive the adoption of best practices, processes, and tools to enhance project delivery and achieve operational efficiencies.
- Establish and maintain PMO governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to project management methodologies.
- Oversee the management of project portfolios, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, resource optimization, and meeting of financial targets.
- Ensure the Center of Excellence is managed with a strong focus on risk mitigation, stakeholder communication, and value delivery.
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of project management processes, templates, and tools.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and continuous learning within the PMO.
- Design and implement training programs and resources to uplift project management competencies across the organization.
- Define and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and report on the effectiveness of the PMO.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to review portfolio performance, address challenges, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide executive-level reporting and insights on project portfolio health, resource utilization, and financial performance.
- Build strong relationships with senior leadership, business stakeholders, and key teams to foster alignment and gain support for PMO initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing strategic recommendations and insights based on portfolio analysis and project outcomes.
- Facilitate regular stakeholder meetings and provide transparent communication on key decisions, project risks, and issues.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging practices in project management, incorporating new methodologies and tools as appropriate.
- Drive the innovation and transformation of the PMO, leveraging technology and automation to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead initiatives focused on PMO process refinement, digital project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 10 years of experience in project/program management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large teams and portfolios.
- Demonstrated success in establishing and leading a PMO or CoE.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and related tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, etc.).
- Proven ability to drive change, influence stakeholders, and deliver complex transformations.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- PMI (e.g. PMP, PgMP and/or PfMP) and Agile certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Master) are preferred.
