What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Tax Services Specialist position at Payroll Partners?
The Tax Services Specialist will serve multiple roles for tax, ACH and garnishment reporting. Tax reporting duties include being responsible for filing accurate and timely tax payments & fiduciary reports to all federal, state and local tax agencies throughout the year.
For ACH and garnishment, you are responsible for remitting the proper employee direct deposit, garnishment, and benefit tax amounts to the appropriate jurisdictions. This position also involves special reports and other duties to ensure our esteemed clients’ employees are accurately paid.
The ideal candidate is someone who is self-motivated, deadline driven, well organized, takes ownership for their responsibilities, is able to work in a fast-paced environment and possesses a customer friendly attitude.
Job Responsibilities
- Process clients’ tax payments and returns timely and accurately
- Send tax payment confirmations and enter them in payroll system
- Perform research and printing of tax matters in relation to payroll matters
- Draft and send quarterly and annual communications to clients in a timely manner
- Set up child support and garnishments in the payroll system
- Assist with ACH transactions as needed
- Update Clients’ accounts as needed
- Assist clients with assigning payroll debit cards to their employees
- Audit Employee and Contractor wages/compensation throughout the year
- Respond to clients’ inquiries and concerns promptly
- Answer phones and direct calls to appropriate Staff
- Edit employee information in payroll systems accurately as needed
- Monitor and filter electronic mailboxes and make sure appropriate comments are in place
- Process and remit ACH transactions in a timely fashion
- Set up new payroll users in the payroll system and reset passwords for employee and manager portals
- Process extra payroll and bonus runs timely and effectively
- Effectively communicate with personnel and management
- Demonstrate initiative by proactively seeking ways to improve processes and procedures
- Maintain a positive attitude with personnel and management
- Adhere to all Company policies
- Assist Payroll Partners’ Management with special projects as needed
Qualifications
- Payroll tax experience (minimum 2 years), preferably service bureau experience
- Customer Service experience (minimum 2 years)
- Cooperative and able to work as a team
- Detail oriented
- Excellent organizational skills
- Must have the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt easily to change
- Must have the ability to learn and apply tax laws
- Must be able to use basic office equipment
- Strong MicroSoft Excel skills
Compensation & Benefits
Starting hourly rate is $24.00-$30.00/hour and is dependent on experience and within industry standards.
