What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Designer position at pb2 architecture + engineering?
As a pb2 Electrical Designer you will be part of a team involved with electrical design for retail, grocery, convenience stores, fuel stations and commercial buildings.
The Electrical Designer will apply basic to intermediate engineering/architecture principles to complete design computations, prepare written reports, produce design documents and details. The electrical designer will work with the Project Engineer to make project decisions based upon factors such as client requirements, building constraints, and local regulations.
The Electrical Designer performs detailed phases of electrical engineering design for a project of moderate size and complexity to design building electrical power distribution, lighting, building life safety to assure safe reliable and energy efficient design. This requires the application of standard electrical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria where the scope is established. Must be fully competent in all conventional aspects of electrical engineering design and be capable of planning and conducting tasks requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard electrical engineering design techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Electrical Designer is a full time, salaried positions working in our offices located in beautiful Northwest Arkansas. A remote work option is available to candidates based on experience and suitability.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Work Visa Sponsorship will not be provided
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program preferred
· Prefer two or more years' experience in electrical design with Bachelor’s degree
· Minimum four or more years’ experience without Bachelor’s degree
· Preparing for or currently registered as an Engineer Intern (EI or EIT)
· Desire to achieve PE license
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Multi-tasking and time management skills
· Proficient in REVIT, AutoCAD, Bluebeam
· Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams
· Prefer working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC)
· Valid driver’s license
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
· Prepare working drawings and perform calculations in support of broader engineering activities, ensuring the concepts fall within schedule and budget for the project.
· Gather and record information to be used for determining and selecting the proper equipment.
· Work with multiple project teams and disciplines to produce fully coordinated construction documents and ensure there are no conflicts or interferences between designed systems.
· Ensure that all design work is within the preliminary scope definition and complies with all applicable building codes.
· Communicate appropriate information on project status, scope changes and problem areas to Project Engineer.
· Maintain current knowledge of National Electric Codes (NEC), Energy Codes as well as design and construction procedures to meet changing priorities. Ability to research and resolve code issues.
· Perform calculations and computation for various project types to include One-line diagrams/fault current/voltage drop calculations.
· Produce drawings and designs in accordance with company production and design standards.
· Ability to manage project schedules and budgets
· Willingness to travel to project locations on a limited basis

Licensure:
We encourage our EIT's to pursue professional licensure by providing:

Work Schedule/Hours:
Monday –Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Central Standard Time, one hour lunch from 12:00 – 1:00 PM.
Hours greater than 40 per week may be required.
Physical Activity Level:
Generally sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities, including frequent typing, computer use. Occasional air travel or driving to project sites may be required. Occasional lifting <50 lbs, standing, bending, reaching.
