Job Title: Controller
Summary
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller is a highly visible position that is responsible for preparation and analysis of a wide variety of financial and other reports. Also determines appropriate accounting for transactions and advise senior management on a variety of technical accounting and business issues. The successful candidate must be highly analytical and detailed, with a high aptitude for problem solving, as well as possess excellent written and oral communication skills. This individual will be key contributor in the month-end and year-end close process including the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations and various analysis and related schedules.
Job Duties
- Perform internal and external financial reporting and provide technical accounting support for accounting and financial reporting functions.
- Prepare consolidating and consolidated financial statements and related footnote disclosures to support the company’s quarterly and annual requirements and other internal financial statement requirements.
- Supervise daily recording of bank activity, ensure completeness and accuracy of all bank and loan accounts including monthly reconciliations.
- Perform the preparation of monthly close variance analysis, research and obtain support for significant variances.
- Prepare and distribute monthly internal financial report packages.
- Assist in preparation of quarterly and ad hoc board and bank presentations.
- Review the accounting of the various branch locations
- Serve as a key contact for external auditors and ensure compliance with new accounting pronouncements and interpretations issued by the FASB and other authoritative sources.
- Assist with research on new accounting pronouncements and interpretations and analyze impact on the business and loan covenants.
- Review and distribute debt covenant calculation, compliance certificates and any reporting requirements.
- Assist with various reporting requirements and presentations for senior management as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 5 years experience in finance reporting positions or public accounting
- Strong analytical skills; Excellent skills in the use of Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Excellent knowledge of US GAAP, combined with the ability to research and propose company positions on accounting issues
- Must have good written and oral communication skills; good interpersonal skills and able to effectively deal with outside auditors and lenders.
