What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Staff Engineer - Electrical position at PCA?
The Senior Staff Engineer will travel to various PCA locations to support projects across the organization, both in manufacturing plants and paper mills. The ideal candidate will have 10 years of experience, 5 years in industrial paper and/or corrugating, or design engineering environment. This is a hands-on position, working side-by-side with the leaders, craft, and personnel to drive the projects to completion. Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to the business and manufacturing operations.
Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
Provide project management support across the business when and where needed as projects arise.
Involved in developing business and/or plant capital plans.
Develop plans, specifications and reports.
Make actionable recommendations based on sound engineering judgment.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university.
10 years as Controls Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or Field Tech Support
Paper Mill or Box Plant Experience a plus
Converting Machine Controls
Ability to travel 80% of the time and can reside anywhere in lower 48 states with good access to reliable air transportation.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence and persuade others, excellent organization and planning skills.
Ability to work well with consulting engineers, local electricity providers, and local authorities having jurisdiction.
Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, NPFA-70E, and Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications:
SKM or PowerSystems experience strongly preferred
Power study experience strongly preferred
Variable Frequency Drives: Rockwell PowerFlex Drives; DC drives; Servo drives
Process Controls: Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix, PLC5 families; Siemens PLC
PLC Controls Design – Hardware and Software
Operator Interface: Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View, PanelView
Project Management Skills
New Installations and Rebuild Projects Supporting PLC and Drive Installations
AC/DC Motors and Drives- Troubleshooting, Maintenance Start-up
