What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wood Scaler position at PCA?
Principle Accountabilities:
Receive incoming truck shipments of pulpwood, chips and biomass. Inspect to be sure wood meets specifications and quality standards.
Receive and stick-scale all rail wood shipments.
Weigh all chemical trucks entering Tomahawk Mill and direct to appropriate area for unloading.
Enforce woodyard safety rules for wood suppliers and enforce security at the scale entrance. Adhere to Tomahawk Woodlands and Mill safety programs to ensure a safe work environment.
Responsible for proper operation of computers and scales. Report for repair when required.
Conduct physical inventory when scheduled. Maintain daily landing inventory.
Enter scale ticket information accurately.
Track wood species trends as required.
Maintain chain-of-custody documents.
Coordinate deliveries of different products to specified areas of the mill and notify appropriate mill employees of the deliveries.
Maintain radio contact with various yard supervisors and equipment operators. Report truck damage and equipment problems as they occur.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent education.
Computer literacy.
Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Project.
Effective communication skills - both written and verbal.
Authorization to work in the U.S.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Post secondary education that is relation to the position.
6 months scaling wood and knowledge of wood species identification.
Prior experience in wood harvesting operations.
