Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care in various settings, including outpatient clinics and inpatient facilities. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, particularly within a Level II Trauma Center or similar healthcare facility. Experience in geriatrics, medical-surgical, and x-ray procedures is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and well-stocked.
- Record patient histories and vital signs accurately.
- Administer medications as directed by physicians or nursing staff.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and assist with x-ray procedures when necessary.
- Manage patient scheduling and follow-up appointments efficiently.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Provide education to patients regarding their health conditions and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Requirements
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program is preferred.
- Previous experience in a hospital setting, particularly in geriatrics or outpatient care, is advantageous.
- Familiarity with coding systems for medical billing is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively with patients and families.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to various specialties, including medical-surgical practices.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new systems and adapt to evolving healthcare technologies.
- Must be able to pass any required background checks or screenings as mandated by the facility.
