Job Title : Director of Kids Programming and Camp

Position Overview :

The Director of Kids Programming and Camp is a dynamic, high-energy leadership role responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a variety of children’s sports and activity-based programs, including camps, sports clinics, STEM initiatives, mad science activities, and special events such as birthday parties and kids’ member events. This individual will recruit, train, and lead a team of counselors, ensuring they deliver exceptional experiences for kids while engaging with club members and fostering a strong community. The Director will also play a key role in driving program sales and member engagement, ensuring that children’s programs meet the highest standards of fun, safety, and educational value.

Key Responsibilities :

Program Design & Development :

Design and implement a diverse range of children’s programming that is activity-based, educational, and fun, including sports, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), mad science, and enrichment programs.

Create well-rounded programs that encourage physical fitness, creativity, teamwork, and intellectual growth.

Ensure that all programs are structured to foster both learning and enjoyment in a safe environment.

Camp Leadership & Coordination :

Oversee all aspects of summer and seasonal camps, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating daily camp activities.

Ensure that camps meet safety standards while providing an enjoyable and educational experience for all participants.

Birthday Parties & Kids' Member Events :

Drive the planning, coordination, and execution of birthday parties, ensuring they are fun, unique, and aligned with the club’s standards for entertainment and safety.

Develop and host special kids' member events that enhance member engagement, build community, and create memorable experiences.

Promote birthday parties and kids’ events to members and prospects, and assist in growing these offerings as revenue streams for the club.

Ensure all parties and events run smoothly, with appropriate staff, activities, and safety measures in place.

Recruitment & Staff Management :

Recruit, hire, train, and manage a team of counselors and program staff, ensuring they are aligned with the club’s expectations for professionalism, safety, and enthusiasm.

Lead with high energy and enthusiasm to inspire and motivate the team to deliver top-tier programs and events.

Provide ongoing support, coaching, and development for staff, ensuring they are well-prepared to deliver high-quality programs and events.

Monitor staff performance and offer continuous opportunities for feedback and professional growth.

Sales & Marketing :

Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials for kids' programming, birthday parties, camps, and other events.

Drive sales for kids’ programs by actively promoting them to club members, the local community, and potential new members.

Work with the leadership team to identify opportunities for program growth and innovation, ensuring that programs remain fresh and in-demand.

Budgeting & Financial Oversight :

Manage the budget for all kids’ programs, birthday parties, and special events, ensuring fiscal responsibility and effective use of resources.

Track enrollment, expenses, and revenue, providing regular reports to leadership regarding the financial status of kids’ programs.

Member & Community Relations :

Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, caregivers, and community organizations, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Engage actively with club members and their families, ensuring they are aware of and excited about kids' programming and events.

Act as a point of contact for parents and families, addressing concerns and feedback in a timely and professional manner.

Safety & Compliance :

Ensure all programs, parties, and events comply with safety standards and regulations.

Monitor the safety and well-being of all participants, addressing any incidents or concerns with the appropriate level of care and attention.

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, Recreation, Child Development, or a related field.

Proven experience in designing and managing children’s sports, educational, or enrichment programs, preferably in a camp or health club environment.

Knowledge of STEM, mad science, and activity-based programming for children.

Strong experience in organizing and managing children’s birthday parties and family-oriented events.

Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and manage a team of counselors or staff.

Sales and marketing experience, with a proven track record of driving participation in kids’ programs and events.

High energy and enthusiasm for working with children, leading a team, and engaging with club members.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with parents, staff, and members.

CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience with budget management and financial planning for programming and events.

Previous experience in a health club or multi-purpose recreation setting.

Additional certifications in youth sports or child development (e.g., coaching certifications, STEM education).

Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) tools or registration systems.
