What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parking Enforcement Officer position at PCI Municipal Services?
This position is responsible for the tagging of illegally parked vehicles during daily patrols of assigned routes. While on patrol, employees act as an Ambassador for the Chattanooga Parking Authority and assist the public in various situations such as giving directions and helping to inform drivers of where they can and cannot park.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Must use assigned hand held ticket writing device and printer.
- Patrols streets and lots on foot therefore must be able to walk and be on foot for a period of at least 8 hours.
- Identifies improperly parked vehicles.
- Provide excellent customer service to general public.
- Initiate procedure for having scofflaw vehicles towed or booted.
- Call in bootable vehicles.
- Utilize the hand held device to take photos as part of the process.
- Checks meters for proper functioning and reports broken, vandalized or missing meters.
- May work various shifts, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Walk assigned route in a timely manner
- Perform activities, functions and other related tasks and duties as assigned or required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Some knowledge of parking regulations.
- Moderate knowledge of the geography of Chattanooga.
- Ability to walk for long periods in all weather conditions (8 14 miles daily throughout Downtown Chattanooga)
- Ability to read and understand signs.
- Ability to complete work assignments, take and understand directives.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions.
