We are seeking an experienced heavy equipment operator to join our team at Solar Construction Inc. for the construction of utility-scale solar plants. As an Experienced Heavy Equipment Operator for our Solar District, you will contribute to our team by:
Responsibilities And Duties
- Operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, cranes, and trucks for site preparation, foundation digging, and installation of solar panels and related components.
- Ensuring safe operation, adhering to company safety policies and industry regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Performing pre-operation inspections and maintenance checks on equipment to ensure they are in good working condition, reporting any malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Following construction plans and specifications to complete tasks accurately and efficiently, ensuring alignment with solar plant design requirements.
- Communicating effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate work activities, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area, contributing to overall site efficiency and safety.
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with heavy equipment, understand construction site safety, and communicate effectively with team members. The requirements include:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry, demonstrating proficiency in operating machinery like bulldozers, excavators, and cranes.
- Valid driver's license and any required certifications for operating specific equipment, with potential need for a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for certain vehicles, depending on state regulations
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications, ensuring tasks align with project goals.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety protocols and practices, including knowledge of electrical safety basics to avoid hazards near solar installations, given the electrical nature of solar panels
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, essential for coordinating with diverse project teams.
- Physical ability to work in outdoor conditions, including varying weather, and to lift heavy objects, with potential for long hours in remote or rural locations typical of solar plant sites.
- Willingness to travel to remote locations as needed, reflecting the industry's trend of projects in rural areas
- Minimum OSHA10 Hr., 30 Hr. preferred.
