The Position
The Director of Operations will oversee the company's day-to-day operational functions, focusing on optimizing production and manufacturing, ensuring the highest quality standards, and maintaining workplace safety. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations across the organization and driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and profitability. The Director will lead, mentor, and support a growing team, championing operational best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Oversee the operations of the production and manufacturing departments, ensuring optimal use of labor, materials, and time while maintaining high-quality standards.Develop and implement operational strategies that align with company goals to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase profitability.Lead and mentor department supervisors and staff, ensuring that teams are well-trained and equipped to meet daily operational goals.Collaborate with senior leadership to forecast staffing, resource allocation, and capital spending plans.Champion continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to identify inefficiencies, eliminate waste, and improve performance.Lead efforts to reduce waste, improve product quality, and enhance overall productivity across all departments.Oversee the scheduling and coordination of production activities to ensure timely delivery to customers while adhering to budgetary constraints.Manage and optimize departmental staffing levels, ensuring the right mix of skills and experience to meet operational demands.Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, and delivery, reporting regularly to the leadership team.Implement and monitor workplace safety protocols, ensuring all employees adhere to safe work practices and identify potential hazards.Ensure effective communication across all levels of the organization, fostering a collaborative and transparent work environment.Oversee equipment and facility maintenance, ensuring operational readiness and minimizing downtime.Lead or support cross-departmental projects aimed at improving processes, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.Required Skills / Abilities :
Proven leadership and management experience in operations, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.Strong background in operational strategy, resource planning, and budget management.Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to drive results in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.Ability to mentor, coach, and develop employees, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.Expertise in project management, including defining scope, timelines, and resources.Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with additional knowledge of project management software a plus.Bilingual Requirement : Fluency in English and Spanish is required, with the ability to communicate effectively in both languages across all levels of the organization.Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field.Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant operational experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Experience in managing cross-functional teams and working within a fast-growing or dynamic environment.Knowledge of quality assurance practices and safety regulations in a manufacturing setting.Prior experience in printing trades is a plus.Supervisory Responsibilities :
Directly supervises a team of production managers and department supervisors.Responsible for developing and leading team members to meet operational goals and foster a culture of continuous improvement.Physical Requirements :
Ability to work in an environment that requires occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds and navigating around operational equipment.Frequent use of a computer and other office equipment for reporting and communication.
