Data Center Operations Technician
We are excited to announce openings for Data Center Operations Technicians to join our team! We are looking for enthusiastic candidates ready to excel in a dynamic environment. Applicants will be subject to a background check.
The starting pay range is $22-24 per hour (W2). Candidates must be available to work on-site during core hours, typically from 7 : 00 am to 3 : 30 pm. This contract position is scheduled for 6 months, with potential conversion to a permanent role at a salary ranging from $45,000 to $50,000.
Your role will involve the installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center. You will deliver efficient, repeatable processes while continuously seeking improvement and providing structured feedback on project progress to stakeholders. Quality workmanship and maintaining a clean Data Center environment are top priorities. All work must adhere to production, safety, and quality standards along with industry best practices.
Main Responsibilities :
- Utilize basic telecom hand tools effectively.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills.
- Comply with job safety requirements.
- Ability to read and understand floor plans and wiring schemes.
- Capable of pulling various types of low-voltage cables.
- Perform field terminations and labeling accurately.
- Follow daily directives from senior technicians and management.
- Keep organized paperwork and manage service jobs efficiently.
- Layout and maintain MDF and IDF closets appropriately.
- Install ladder racking and seismic bracing both above and below raised floors.
- Basic knowledge of copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting is essential.
- Dress and furcate fiber trunks for splicing as required.
- Install, connect, and decommission network equipment effectively.
- Operate testing equipment like DSX 5000 tester and OTDR tester.
- Program testing devices and manage test result submissions.
- Create and apply labels as per Portmap specifications.
- Differentiate between live and decommissioned cables accurately.
- Conduct service swaps of live networking devices efficiently.
- Utilize the 'FIM' database and operate scanning devices.
