What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vocational Employment Specialist - San Antonio position at PCSI?
We are looking for a Vocational Employment Specialist to support PCSI's work with Project SEARCH in San Antonio! The Vocational Employment Specialist works with students with disabilities ages 18-21 in an internship program throughout different areas of the hospital, providing job coaching and other support. The Vocational Employment Specialist helps students coming out of the program develop interview skills and work toward employment goals in partnership with school personnel. This role also involves some networking with employers in the San Antonio area to connect clients with job opportunities.
This employee will primarily work on-site at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital in Alamo Heights, with some travel throughout the larger San Antonio community. Typical hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

What You'll Do as Vocational Employment Specialist:
- Teach job skills to supported employees, ensuring a safe working environment for employees at all times.
- Ensure job accommodations are provided as stated to increase independence and productivity.
- Document progress, maintain case management and prepare reports in support of the Company, mission and AbilityOne program.
- Support, implement, report, and follow up on positive behavior and behavior intervention.
- Advocate for assigned employees to ensure vocational needs, desires, and goals are known, addressed, and accomplished.
- Support independence with independent living skills such as personal hygiene (e.g. hand washing and occasional grooming issues, etc.) as necessary for job success.
- Perform set-up duties as necessary to include quality checks, read work orders, set-up and clean-up of machines and work stations, material handling, and ensure smooth work flow.
- Work closely with client staff and employees to develop positive, consistent relationships and communication to ensure opportunities and inclusion for employees.
- Participate in the development and implementation of a community-based, external job coaching program.
- Actively participate and regularly attend department and client staff trainings/meetings by sharing information, contributing ideas, facilitating and actively listening.

What You'll Need:
- High School Diploma and/or some college course work completed.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience advocating, training, and developing people with various disabilities in a vocational setting required.
- Experience working with young adults and/or in a school setting preferred.
- Certification in Job Coaching, Job Placement, and Supported Employment for the State of Texas through UNT WISE preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Operational knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
- Experience with SharePoint and Office 365 is preferred.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of disability documentation, case notes and evaluations preferred.
- Knowledge of JWOD Act, AbilityOne, SourceAmerica a plus.
- Knowledge of community social services and case management techniques preferred.
- Requires knowledge of PC functions and Software.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Ability to set and manage priorities.
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to pass criminal, drug, financial, and driving screening.
- May need to have the ability to legally drive a company vehicles.
- Ability to work flexible hours to include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to exchange accurate information in person and over the phone.
- Travel may be required, up to 25%.
