What are the responsibilities and job description for the NDT (Non-Destructive Test) Apprentice position at PCX Aerosystems, LLC?
The Nondestructive Test (NDT) Apprentice will learn the necessary knowledge in the processing of aerospace components through Fluorescent Penetrant, Magnetic Particle and Nital Etch processes.
Responsibilities:
- Perform FPI, MPI and Nital Etch processing in accordance with internal and customer specifications.
- Perform all NDT daily, weekly and monthly tasks in accordance to established procedures.
- Work with aerospace materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, magnesium, titanium, and nickel alloys.
- Read/interpret operation sheets and work instructions.
- Adhere to established policies and company procedures and standard work.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives utilizing lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
- Document and communicate manufacturing performance issues to maintain continuity between shifts and decrease machine downtime.
- Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Follow all safety policies, rules, and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by Leads, Supervisors and/or Managers.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or sit for extended period on a concrete manufacturing floor.
- Fine motor skills with frequent hand and arm movement.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
- Moderate twisting and bending.
- Moderate climbing on step stools or platforms.
Unusual Environmental Conditions:
- Loud machining environment; exposure to aerospace metals, lubricants, and NDI chemicals.
Required Personal Protective Equipment:
- Safety glasses/shields, appropriate manufacturing closed toed footwear, hearing protection, respirators, gloves and protective clothing may be required along with other protective equipment as needed.
Qualifications:
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Willing to work both 1st and 2nd shifts
- Basic understanding of math or industrial mathematics.
- Good written and verbal skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read technical drawings.
- Ability to set, use or setup various measuring devices.
- Solid problem-solving skills.
