Wages and Benefits

$49,000-$58,000 on an annual basis, depending on qualifications and experience; medical insurance, dental and vision insurance; employer contributions to a Health Savings Account; flexible spending account; participation in the agency-sponsored retirement plan; employer-paid life insurance; long-term disability insurance; paid school break time, personal days, and sick time.

A Typical Day in the Life…

A typical day as PCYC’s English Teacher offers the opportunity to create a positive learning environment that facilitates student development and will include the following:

• Developing and implementing curriculum that is inclusive of the arts and technology.
• Maintaining a school and classroom environment that promotes education and is safe and respectful of all.
• Providing coverage in other classrooms as assigned.
• Identifying individual student needs and differentiating curriculum as needed.
• Ensuring effective and timely feedback for students.
• Working with the Educational Leadership Team concerning issues of student achievement, behavior, attendance, and/or suspension consistent with PYC policies and procedures.
• Collaborating with the Educational Leadership Team and peers to plan, develop, and implement best practices based on the needs and abilities of the students.
• Maintaining thorough and continued awareness and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP), 504 Plans, and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
• Accurately completing attendance records and incident reports.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
• Background or degree in English with the ability and motivation to pursue tiered licensure.
• Previous teaching experience preferred.
• Able to relate effectively and positively with adults and youth from diverse social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
• Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Adept at both verbal and written communication on an interpersonal or group level.
• Ability to teach the required curricula.
• High level of competence in computer applications.
• Skilled at prioritizing work with multiple competing demands.
• Valid Minnesota Secondary Teaching License for English, certificate or other legal credentials required for level of assignment or ability to be waivered by the Minnesota Department of Education.
• Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet PCYC’s driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit.
