Summary
The Department Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring production goals are met, training employees and maintaining high standards of safety, quality and efficiency.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Lead the team while reinforcing productivity and quality driven objectives.
- Execute department and quality processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to job specifications and timelines
- Accurately enter production and job information into company database
- Troubleshoot missing information, supplies and conflicting information, etc.
- Be a change agent for driving out waste throughout the process
- Drive a continuous improvement culture by involving employees in problem solving and decision making
- Facilitate communication between team members and address concerns within the team
- Clearly label raw material, work in progress, and finished goods
- Train new employees and coach existing employees on proper procedures and proper use of equipment
- Act as a primary point of contact with other departments for questions and problem resolution
- Ensure equipment is maintained, while maximizing equipment efficiency
- May act as back-up to supervisor in their absence. Responsible for making daily staffing decisions (i.e. granting on the spot time off and/or sharing resources with other departments)
- Flexibility to work between jobs, job classifications, and buildings as directed by management
- Provide flexibility to other departments and areas as required by the business
- Maintain and organize department supplies
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Will be required to participate with daily production as workloads dictate
- Ensure and enforce safety requirements and documentation
- Fosters a culture that values family, innovation, collaboration and empowerment
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Education/Certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prefer 2 year technical/business degree or equivalent
Experience
- 1-3 years lead experience in manufacturing environment
- Experience providing daily work direction to hourly/shift workers
- Experience using Microsoft Office Products
- Forklift certified, or ability to obtain forklift operating certificate
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time
- Flexibility to travel between multiple PD locations
- Walking, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling climbing and lifting up to 50 lbs. may be required throughout the workday
