PD Systems is looking to hire Range Maintenance (Seasonal) to perform range and airfield grass cutting and grounds maintenance services for the Range Control, Pope, Simmons, and Camp Mackall Army Airfield activities to include, but not limited to mowing, policing, edging, trimming, and other general grounds maintenance of approximately 2,416 acres at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Essential Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:
- Range Maintenance (Seasonal) perform grounds maintenance to include mowing, policing, edging, trimming and general grounds maintenance of berms, firing points, airfields and other range associated grounds.
- Operates work related vehicles and equipment including but not limited to gasoline or diesel-powered, mowers, tow trailers, load materials, or equipment.
- Performs general operator level maintenance on equipment and machinery.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Tractor Operators must be able to operate standard equipment associated with ground maintenance, to include zero turn mower weed eaters, and various hand tools, etc.
- Must be able to perform grounds policing operations prior to every mowing operation. This grounds policing operation is an integral part of the grass mowing operation. Policing includes all tree limbs, scrap lumber, boxes, bottles, cans, paper, cardboard, rags, scrap metals, rocks, wire, and other debris to be collected and disposed of in the on-site dumpster or as directed.
- Maintenance/grass cutting is based on a four-week cycle, with approximately 1,200 acres at the airfields, and 1,216 acres at the ranges, for a total of 2,416 acres being completely mowed, trimmed, bush hogged, and policed on a four-week cycle during the growing season, and every six to eight weeks during the limited growing season.
- Must have a minimum of two years prior experience operating mowers (regular and zero turn) under 2000 pounds and weed eaters.
- Position will require the use and operation of a variety of equipment and hand tools.
- Seasonal Maintenance workers must be able to obtain contractor pass for the installation.
- Must possess a current valid state issued driver's license.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Prolonged sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling will be required.
Work Environment:
- Seasonal workers must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
Hours of Operation & Location:
- The normal work hours during the week are 6:30 am - 4:00 pm, however work hours can change due to government requirements.
