PdN Children’s is looking for someone who enjoys working with five to twelve-year-olds, who is energetic, creative, caring, and kind! As a recreation team leader, you will be responsible for providing fun early learning activities in an inclusive setting, for children both with and without special needs.
The best candidate will be one who has knowledge of Texas Child Care Licensing, Texas Rising Star and NAEYC standards; knows developmentally appropriate practices for school aged children; demonstrates a variety of developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate and effective teaching approaches that enhance each child's learning and development; demonstrates creativity in planning an engaging and fun after-school and summer camp activity plans.
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Plan, coordinate, and implement all school age programs including summer camp activities, events, and presentations
- Supervise, guide and motivate recreational aids and volunteers
- Tutor children with school work
- Communicate with staff, parents and children
- Compile daily forms and reports as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and fun learning environment, both indoors and outdoors.
- Responsible for the preparation and implementation of lesson plans with adaptations
- Maintain communication with therapist, co-workers, supervisor and parents
- Maintain confidentiality of children and family information
- Responsible for maintaining ongoing documentation of children's growth and development
- Maintain safe working environment for children and adults
- Report suspected child abuse and neglect as required by law
- Feeding, cleaning and diaper changing
- Daily health checks, medication administration and incident reports.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Knowledge of summer camps for children.
- Fluent reading, writing and speaking English
- Skilled in Microsoft computer applications.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of summer camps for children with special needs
- Associate’s Degree in Child Development or related field
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- One Year Experience in child care/summer camp preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT - Classroom and outdoors as weather and activities permit

Pay: $10.82 - $14.27 per hour
