As a Database Administrator at PDQ, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing PDQ's databases to ensure their availability, reliability, and performance. This role plays a critical role in safeguarding data integrity, supporting business applications, and enabling data-driven decision-making.
What you"ll be doing :
Designing and implementing database architecture solutions that scale with our growing SaaS platformLeading database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting initiativesDeveloping and maintaining backup strategies, disaster recovery procedures, and high-availability solutionsCollaborating with software development teams to optimize database queries and schema designsCollaborating with DevOps teams to automate routine database administration tasks and maintenance proceduresMonitoring database health, performance metrics, and capacity planningImplementing and maintaining database security measures and access controlsMentoring and teaching engineering teams in writing optimized and performant database queriesWe"re looking for people who have :
6 years of experience managing databases at scaleExperience working in SaaS environment with high-availability requirementsStrong grasp of OLTP databases, specifically PostgreSQL and MySQLExperience with database replication, partitioning, sharding and clusteringProficiency in SQL performance tuning, query optimization and schema designExperience with automation tools and scripting languages (Bash, Python, or similar)Knowledge of backup and recovery tools and methodologiesExtra Credit :Experience with cloud platforms (specifically GCP and Cloud SQL)
Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, GCP SQL Query Insights)Certifications in PostgreSQL or related technologiesExperience with OLAP (columnar) databases (ClickHouse)Experience with Document Databases / NoSQL (MongoDb, Redis)Who you are :
