We have Optical Laboratories in Louisville, KY and Fort Lauderdale, FL and manage many optical stores across the US and Puerto Rico. PDS is looking for a new member for their Software Development Team.
The pay for this position will be based on relevant experience but we offer competitive pay and a fantastic benefit package including: a free 50k life insurance policy, 401k with a Safe Harbor employer match in place, 80% company paid medical plan, and much more! Additionally, PDS works primarily with US Veterans everyday which allows us all to give back to the great men and women who have served our country.
The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, resourceful, and adaptable. They will be responsible for developing new, high-quality applications, as well as providing the ongoing support and expansion of our existing point of sale systems. They will also be responsible for designing and implementing testable and ascendable code.
Education, Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business information technology, business or related field.
3 years’ experience in a technology role required. Must have excellent technical and computer skills including experience or knowledge of various Operating Systems and programming languages.
Must have the ability to work independently, prioritize, multitask, problem solve and follow up. Must be organized and able to handle confidential information.

- Maintain ongoing technical knowledge (and certification as directed) in the areas of assigned responsibility. The general categories that may be assigned by the Systems Improvement Manager are:
- Application Development
- SQL Database Administrations
- Management of Databases & Software Systems, to include generation of organizational reports.
- Work directly with IT companies & other vendors such as Microsoft, CCSystems, etc. on projects and issues that may arise.
- Enhance PDS’ web enablement, ecommerce and other goals as it relates to IT and processing.
- Develop quality software and web applications (Current systems in VB.NET)
- Analytical – Synthesizes complex or diverse information.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
