PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Liaison Engineer at our Portland, OR site. This 12-month consulting role is a hands-on opportunity for experienced engineers who thrive in a fast-paced factory environment. Pay Rate : $82.96 – $103.94 per hour
Schedule : Variable shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd) with potential weekend work
What You’ll Do
As a Liaison Engineer , you’ll be the bridge between engineering and production , ensuring aerospace components meet the highest standards. Key responsibilities include :
Analyze and resolve production issues , conducting root cause analysis and developing effective solutions.
Apply engineering principles to assess product / process issues throughout the product lifecycle.
Partner with manufacturing teams to implement design improvements and process efficiencies .
Support non-conformance dispositioning , ensuring compliance with standards.
Conduct static strength analysis , develop interim structural repairs , and design non-destructive testing procedures .
Participate in design reviews, accident investigations, and aircraft repair projects .
Provide on-site engineering support , navigating a dynamic factory environment with exposure to high noise areas, chemical hazards, and complex aerospace structures.
Travel as needed during the 9-month Aerospace Training Rotation Program , with shifts rotating across first, second, and third shifts.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
14 years of experience in structures, systems, design, or production engineering .
Prior Material Review Board (MRB) experience (15 years preferred).
Ability to work onsite full-time and adapt to varying shifts, including weekends.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and / or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies : 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications
We are looking for liaison engineers with expertise in the following areas :
Materials & Manufacturing – Deep knowledge of steel, aluminum, and titanium properties, machining, forging, and finishing processes.
Machining & Tolerancing – Experience with GD&T (True Position, Parallel Surface, Bonus Tolerance) , machining practices, and metrology.
Gears & Shafts – Understanding of gear tables, spline profiles, fit-up requirements, and gear interaction principles.
Material Processing – Experience with heat treatment, plating, anodizing, and protective coatings .
Functional Testing – Ability to diagnose performance issues and interpret functional test results at the aircraft level .
Repair & Rework – Knowledge of bushing installations, heli-coils, corrosion protection, and refinishing techniques .
