General Function
- Assist in the implementation of Life Cycle Systems Engineering (LCSE) processes to ensure compliance with OSS&E requirements.
- Support value stream mapping and facilitate Air Force Smart Operations for the 21st Century (AFSO21) performance improvement initiatives.
- Provide analysis and recommendations for the suitability, functionality, and reliability of systems for installation and readiness.
- Provide expertise in controls and displays, including cockpit displays and aerial refueling operator station displays.
- Support the development and testing of data buses (e.g., MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC-429) and data recording equipment.
- Review technical documents to ensure compliance with airworthiness and specifications, and recommend changes as necessary.
- Collaborate with the avionics team to develop requirements for future system upgrades.
- Provide avionics engineering support for subsystem definition, integration, and airworthiness certification, ensuring compliance with Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) requirements.
- Assist in reviewing and developing avionics subsystem specifications, and support testing and certification of aircraft and supporting systems.
- Conduct system analysis on avionics, including threat analysis, system interface reviews, and identifying areas of improvement.
- Support the avionics team in reviewing and analyzing test plans, performing assessments on program databases, and troubleshooting Built-in Test (BIT) failure reports.
- Assist in developing and reviewing technical documentation, including reports, analyses, and acquisition strategies such as ICD, ORD, CPD, SRD, RFPs, System Engineering Plans (SEP), Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP), and more.
- Support the development of executive briefings and staff summary packages to support milestone approvals.
- Prepare for and support project team meetings, technical reviews, and working groups including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and others.
- Apply DoD, AF, and common engineering/scientific principles to improve the performance and sustainability of existing and future AF and joint service weapon systems.
- Support System Integrity Programs such as the Mechanical Systems Integrity Program (MECSIP), including updating the Critical Safety Item (CSI) list and monitoring airworthiness certification for mission partner aircraft.
- Understand and apply MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria to aircraft systems and subsystems.
- Execute and assist in Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 62-6 and related AFIs and Airworthiness Bulletins through standardized processes and issuance of flight authorizations.
- Translate user requirements into system requirements for designing, developing, testing, and evaluating weapons systems, subsystems, and equipment.
- ssist in the development of requirements and technology needs for world-class manufacturing, operations, re-manufacturing, and disposal of weapon system capabilities.
- Perform technical/mission analyses and assist in developing system concepts, trade-off assessments, and technological evaluations of proposed designs and modifications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA/BA Degree and at least 3 years of experience related to the position requirements, 3 of which must be with the DoD, OR, 7 years of directly related experience, 5 of which must be with the DoD.
- Must possess and maintain a government security clearance at the Secret Level.
- Must be able to perform functional duties independently.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft programs (including Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Must be able to transport self to various facility sites, as required. If using own motor vehicle, must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
