General Function
- Apply DoD, AF, and engineering principles to enhance weapon systems performance and sustainability.
- Execute MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria for aircraft systems and subsystems.
- Support System Integrity Programs, including maintaining the Critical Safety Item (CSI) list and ensuring airworthiness certification.
- Translate user requirements into system requirements for weapons systems design, development, testing, and deployment.
- Assist in technical/mission analyses, system concepts development, and technological/trade-off assessments.
- Provide rapid-response engineering services, identifying problems, assessing impacts, and developing corrective actions.
- Support system safety engineering, including risk assessments, contractor safety evaluations, and addressing high-priority safety issues.
- Assist in developing technical documents, including requirements, acquisition strategies, and system evaluations (e.g., ICD, ORD, SRD).
- Participate in project meetings, reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.), and provide technical insights on system deficiencies and modifications.
- Assist in system integration efforts, ensuring weapon systems are fully integrated, manufactured, and sustained for operational safety.
- Apply OSS&E (Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness) processes to ensure systems meet airworthiness and safety standards.
- Review and update program documentation, ensuring compliance with airworthiness policies and regulations.
- Support systems engineering tasks related to system design, integration, testing, risk assessment, and technology maturation.
- Support systems integration, airworthiness certification, configuration management, and risk management.
- Assist in developing processes to ensure weapon systems are operationally safe and effective throughout their lifecycle.
- Help produce airworthiness certification packages and perform airworthiness risk assessments.
- Assist in planning and executing Airworthiness Review Board Meetings for military flight releases.
- Provide guidance on system installation, maintenance, and modification feasibility.
- Conduct performance, cost-effectiveness, and reliability assessments, including lifecycle cost and risk analyses.
- Develop and review system design baselines, including architecture and interoperability requirements.
- Support the development and review of technical solutions and system integration approaches.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Senior: Master’s degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience, OR, BA degree with at least 12 years of experience, OR, 15 years f directly related experience, 8 of which must be with the DoD.
- Must possess and maintain a government security clearance at the Secret Level.
- Must be able to perform functional duties independently.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft programs (including Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Must be able to transport self to various facility sites, as required. If using own motor vehicle, must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
