About the role :
We are currently seeking a Sr Mine Engineer to join our Engineering team at our North Complex mine. North Complex is composed of two surface coal mines located in Gillette, Wyoming (Rawhide & Caballo Mines). The mines produce high quality thermal coal that is loaded onto haul trucks and then shipped by rail. It has approximately 465 million tons of coal reserves.
Gillette is known as the energy capital of the nation. Just an hour's drive from Devils Tower National Monument, Gillette is close to scenery with its famed rolling hills and open plains. Pronghorn and big game hunting across Campbell County is some of the nation's best, and you can scout the area on a Wildlife Loop Tour.
Peabody's North Complex Mines have a safety-first culture and strive to have zero recordable MSHA injuries / incidents.
This role will operate at a mature professional level with the capacity to make technical contributions to projects. The incumbent is responsible for technical advice, planning and methodology in the mine.
Duties will include :
- Visibly support and champion Peabody's Missions and Values
- Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System
- Short, medium and long term mine planning activities
- Examine mining methods and equipment to improve performance
- Prepare drilling and blasting plans
- Monitor mine ventilation (if applicable) and provide other mine services
- Supervise mining engineers and other technical staff in their day-to-day activities
- Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements
- Other duties as assigned by the company
