Assistant Director/ Curriculum Coordinator
Interim Director:
When the director is absent, act as the director and cover the center's needs.
Waiting List:
Responsible for the organization and upkeep of the center wait list and school tours.
Classroom Support:
Responsible for Supporting Teachers as needed, Bathroom & lunch breaks, planning time, child interventions, and maintaining classroom ratios.
Communication:
Responsible for maintaining daily communication with staff and parents.
Staff Training:
Provide support/feedback and training to staff as needed.
Curriculum:
Responsible for checking weekly lesson plans for completeness and compliance and providing feedback. Help with curriculum implementation as needed.
Errands:
Responsible for running errands as needed. This can include purchasing snacks, teacher appreciation items, and other things for the center.
Flexibility:
Any task the Director may need completed, such as the following.
1. Conduct tours for potential children
2. Setting up Welcome Packets for new children.
3. File student paperwork.
4. Update/check student files every six months
New Students:
1. Enter the child’s information into the system
2. Add parents to the email list
3. Email welcome letter three days before they start
4. Notify staff of new students
5. Set up cubby with name tags before students start
Transitions:
1. Create a calendar for transitions to new classrooms
2. Get the teacher’s feedback on readiness to
3. Send transition letters to parents
4. Set a date for transition
5. Notify staff
6. Update the classroom allergy list
7. Update the classroom contact list
Withdraw:
1. Place notice in student file
2. Notify staff of the date
3. Remove parents from the email list.
4. Update classroom lists
5. Remove the name tags from cubby
Student Behavior:
1. Help with observations and documentation
2. Provide staff support
3. Individual child support as needed
4. Discuss with the director a plan of action
5. Set up meetings with the director and parents to discuss behaviors
Staff Items:
1. Maintain daily communication with staff
2. Help with staff training as needed.
3. Staff birthday cards (starting in September)
4. Upkeep of staff anniversary cards.
5. Support staff emotionally and physically
6. Discuss with the director any issues with staff
7. Discuss with the director any fantastic things they see.
8. Help with meeting agendas
Monthly Items:
1. Monthly newsletter for parents
2. Facebook posts of daily activities and projects
3. Make sure staff are deep cleaning their classrooms and changing the toys out.
4. Checking the supply of cleaning supplies, garbage bags, gloves, wipes, etc:
5. Fire and tornado drills
6. Help plan and execute fundraisers
Parent Engagement:
1. Maintain communication with parents about their child’s progress, milestones, and transitions
2. Help guide staff when needed for effective parent communication
3. Help guide staff on creating proper accident and incident reports
4. IF THE DIRECTOR ISN'T AVAILABLE- Notify parents of any head injuries, deep bites, and accidents that need medical attention. (Then call the director)
5. Open communication with the Director about any conflicts or problems parents bring up or have concerns with.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
