We are laser-focused on advancing proven public safety practices and building up DC’s community violence intervention (CVI) workforce—the frontline heroes best positioned to reduce violence and drive lasting change. Our approach is community-led, evidence-based, and deeply rooted in healing and transformation.

From training the next generation of violence intervention leaders through the DC Peace Academy to bringing Roca’s Rewire Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT) model to DC through our HEAL DC program, we are actively mobilizing communities, and championing innovative solutions to public safety.

The Opportunity: Be the Leader Who Transforms Public Safety


We are seeking an inspirational, strategic, and results-driven Executive Director to take Peace For DC to the next level. If you are a visionary leader with a deep commitment to social justice, a track record of building high-impact teams and partnerships, and a passion for community-led change, we want to hear from you.


As Executive Director, you will:

  • Lead & Inspire: Spearhead Peace For DC’s vision and strategy, working alongside grassroots organizations, government leaders, funders, and community members to drive transformative change.
  • Build & Expand Impact: Scale our programs, deepen partnerships, and launch new initiatives that amplify our mission.
  • Fundraise & Mobilize: Secure funding and resources to sustain and grow our movement, working with our Development team to engage donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Manage & Support a High-Performing Team: Lead a dynamic staff, including directors of Learning, Healing, Partnerships, Transformation, and Operations.
  • Advocate & Elevate the Movement: Be a powerful voice for community violence intervention, shaping public discourse, policy, and action through strategic communications and advocacy.
  • Strengthen Internal Operations: Oversee financial management, compliance, HR, and program execution to ensure Peace For DC thrives for years to come.


Who You Are: About the Ideal Candidate


You are a proven leader who thrives in fast-paced, mission-driven environments. You are energized by bold ideas, big challenges, and the opportunity to drive systemic change


You bring:

  • A deep passion for gun violence intervention and community-led solutions
  • At least 10 years of leadership experience, preferably in nonprofit management, social justice, public safety, or a related field
  • A strong fundraising track record—you know how to build relationships and secure funding from diverse sources
  • A proven history of building and managing high-impact teams
  • Excellent public speaking, advocacy, and strategic communication skills
  • An entrepreneurial mindset—ready to innovate, problem-solve, and take Peace For DC to new heights
  • Knowledge of DC’s local landscape and stakeholders


Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience working with CVI organizations, government agencies, or philanthropic funders
  • Background in program design, policy advocacy, or trauma-informed approaches

This is a full-time position with both in-person and virtual expectations. Salary range starting at $140,000 commensurate with experience, plus benefits.
