What are the responsibilities and job description for the HIS Clerk II position at Peace River Center?
Responsibilities include maintaining client records and ensuring paper documentation is appropriately filed or scanned into corresponding client record; completing Notices of Discharge for inpatient clients; performing administrative closures for clients that are no longer active; receiving, processing and tracking internal requests for external provider records; inventorying paper records stored and assisting with destruction of records; serving as Point of Contact in the HIS office for all requests that are not related to the Release of Information; reviewing client records for completeness and documenting error information.
The duties outlined which include, but are not limited to, shall be performed in accordance with the defined business process using the corporation’s policies, procedures, Mission and Vision Statements, and Joint Commission’s Standards and all other Federal and State Guidelines.

Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma/GED
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with medical records or in an administrative position, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Certifications:
None required
Training:
All DCF Training will be required post-employment
Knowledge and Skills:
a. Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
b. Knowledge of HIPAA and how it relates to medical records department processes.
c. Experience utilizing Electronic Health Records or similar systems.
d. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Work Environment:
The work environment is fast-paced and consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. The populations cared for will include patients who are confused, delusional, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. A small amount of travel may be required for meetings etc. to another PRC location.
