What are the responsibilities and job description for the Thrift Shoppe Associate position at Peace River Center?
The Thrift Shoppe Associate’s primary responsibility is to assist the store manager as directed with daily operations. The Thrift Shoppe has a goal to be a premier thrift store where individuals/donors have a sense of making a difference with our clients and organization. The store is sometimes the first contact a prospective donor has with Peace River Center.
The Thrift Shoppe Associate, reports to the Thrift Shoppe Manager and may also work directly with the Community Relations team to help provide content.
Successful candidates will be self-directed and capable of working independently with limited direction, should be detail-oriented and have a solid understanding of thrift shop marketing techniques. Additionally, the candidate must possess strong customer relations skills, must be self-motivated and exhibit critical thinking skills.

Thrift Shoppe Role
- Assist with item donations, counting, pricing and stocking store items.
- Perform store opening and closing procedures including: counting funds, completing bank deposit, opening/closing register and securing facility.
- Merchandise the store by displaying products and maintaining a clean, professional working environment.
- Maintain effective working relationships with donors, volunteers, and others to nurture their connection to the organization.
Qualifications:
- Energetic, organized, self-starter with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading
Education:
· High School Diploma
Experience:
Retail store management experience, including with merchandising and cash register
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have strong verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail required
- Time management skills; ability to take initiative, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively
- Basic accounting skills
- Must work well independently
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment:
The work environment is fast-paced and consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. The populations cared for will include patients who are confused, delusional, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. A small amount of travel may be required for meetings etc. to another PRC location.
