What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trainer position at Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue?
Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue, the world's largest donkey rescue, is a non profit company, in the business of rescuing, rehabbing and adopting out donkeys from around the country. We are looking to hire a trainer at our San Angelo, TX facility, which is an integral role in our adoption process.
As a trainer, you will be required to work outdoors in all conditions
We do offer on the job training
- Lift 60 pounds
- Carry feed buckets, and be physically able to handle the donkeys
- All of our adoptable donkeys must be friendly
- Learn to halter and walk donkeys on a lead broke
- Stand tied and lift all four feet for a farrier before they are considered adoptable
- As a trainer, you will be responsible for helping the donkeys achieve adoptable status
- Along with training, you will be required to feed
- Do daily pen maintenance
- Help with farriers
- Deworm
- Vaccinate and any other task assigned
- Some weekend work is required
- You must pass a drug test.
Although large animal exposure is a plus. The right person for this position will love animals, display compassion, have a team work attitude and must have patience.
