Radiology Technologist Student - TEMP

PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, Washington is seeking a Radiology Technologist Student for a Temporary, 0.00 FTE, Variable position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $32.32 – $48.48. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

Under the direction of a Radiological Technologist, performs radiology procedures using judgement to select proper exposure, positioning, and meet patient care needs. Uses a variety of fixed and mobile radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment in various locations including surgery, nursing units, Emergency Department, satellite operations and main radiology department.

Essential Functions

• Operates equipment and devices utilizing standard procedures, monitors device performance and ensure functionality.

• Practices aseptic technique as necessary, assists with contrast media, assists the physician with imaging procedures, initiates life support measures for patients if necessary, maintains all appropriate and required patient records, and procedure documentation.

• Transfers patients as necessary.

• Processes images by either automatic film process or digital radiography laser equipment as appropriate.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• Required: Must be currently enrolled in the last year of an accredited 2–4-year Radiologic Technology Program and be in good standing.

Experience

• Preferred: Previous experience in a healthcare setting

Credentials

• Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support

• Required Upon Hire: Certification/Registration/Licensure as required by the State

Department / Location Specific Notes

PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center:

• Radiology Technologist Student position/status is only granted until 3 months post-graduation date from an accredited Radiologic Technology Program, to allow time to acquire ARRT (R) certification and apply for Radiology Technologist positions.

Working Conditions

Lifting

• Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

• Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

• Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment.

• Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 30 lbs.

• Push/Pull: Frequently up to 13 lbs. force. Occasionally up to 30 lbs. force.

• Reaching frequently.

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

Mental/Visual

• Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
