Peach Procurement Solutions is seeking a committed and organized Catholic Religious Education Coordinator to support the chapel ministry at Maxwell Air Force Base. This role will oversee Catholic religious education programs for children through adults, working closely with the Catholic Chaplain, volunteers, and chapel staff.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Lead and coordinate religious education programs, including Sunday School, sacramental prep, Bible studies, and seasonal events (Christmas, Easter, Vacation Bible School)
- Develop lesson plans and recommend age-appropriate curriculum consistent with Catholic teachings
- Supervise and support RE volunteers, ensuring they meet required training and background checks
- Coordinate logistics including scheduling, facilities use, classroom setup, and material prep
- Submit reports, lesson plans, calendars, budget input, and facility requests as outlined in the contract
- Attend Parish Advisory Council and chapel staff meetings as required
- Publicize RE programs through approved channels and maintain literature and curriculum inventory
- Serve as the line-of-sight supervisor for all children’s activities
- Comply with chapel, Air Force, and DoD procedures regarding safety, security, records, and facilities
This is a part-time role requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week. The schedule includes:
- Sundays: 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM (5 hours weekly)
- You'll support and supervise Catholic worship, Sunday School, and volunteer efforts.
- Weekday Office/Program Hours: 15 hours weekly
These hours are flexible but must be coordinated with the Catholic Chaplain. Tasks may include curriculum planning, training, staff meetings, program prep, and other related duties.
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic with knowledge of Catholic formation and sacraments
- Experience leading or coordinating religious education programs
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate professionally with military personnel, families, and parish leadership
- Ability to develop lesson plans and recommend Catholic curriculum
- Fluent in English and comfortable working in a structured, policy-driven environment
- Must pass a Criminal Background Check and Installation Records Check (IRC)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with virtual learning platforms
- Must be available to work Sundays and flexible hours throughout the week
Seasonal Demand
Expect to work additional hours during Christmas, Easter, and Vacation Bible School (VBS). These periods require more preparation and involvement and will be planned in advance.
Additional Detail
- This is a 1099 contractor position, and you will be responsible for your own taxes and business registration
- Workspace and basic supplies will be provided at the chapel; coordination required for any off-site work
- This role supports a military chapel environment and requires professionalism, confidentiality, and reliability
- You may be asked to assist with annual budgeting, calendar planning, and after-action reporting
