Our firm is growing, and we are looking for a highly motivated and talented paralegal to join our staff and work closely with our Intake and Marketing departments to drive our success. The is a 1099 position to start and will convert to a salaried role for a top performer after a successful six-month performance review.
About the Role
As a paralegal in our probate firm, you will be a key player in providing essential support to our lead probate attorney by performing legal tasks such as research, document drafting, case management, and client communication. You will assist in preparing filings, managing case load, keeping us on top of deadlines and deliverables, ensuring legal compliance, and maintaining efficient workflow.
This role requires excellent organizational skills, an ownership mindset, attention to detail, proactive problem solving, and a genuine desire to help clients during one of the most difficult seasons of their lives.
Key Responsibilities
· Proficiency in legal document preparation
· Familiarity with Georgia probate and guardianship processes, specifically drafting and filing of appropriate petitions, and managing cases as they progress through the probate court process
· Conduct thorough legal research and case investigation in support of case preparation
· Manage client files and ensure all documentation is scanned, organized, and up-to-date
· Communicate with clients and the courts regarding case status and gather necessary information on a daily basis
· Familiarity with deed record searches
· Ability to learn and become proficient with case management software such as Lawmatics, Clio Grow and Manage
· Experience with discovery and hearing/trial/mediation preparation
· Experience on-boarding clients, case/matter set up, and ability to take ownership of client matters
· Ability to prioritize tasks while managing a heavy case load
· Great attention to detail and proofreading
· The candidate should take pride in their work product and contributions to the Firm
Who You Are
- You have 3 years of probate paralegal experience
- You understand and are comfortable with all aspects of civil discovery and the litigation process
- You understand Georgia probate court procedures and timelines
- You proudly bring a sharp eye for detail and strong organizational habits
- You’re a self-starter who takes ownership of your work
- You are comfortable working with grieving families and can explain complex legal matters in plain English
- You are tech-savvy, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, CRM/case management tools (Lawmatics or Clio preferred)
- You embrace a “no-drama,” results-driven environment and thrive under pressure
- You care deeply about delivering an excellent client experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certification preferred
