Overview
Peachtree Catering, the premier catering company of Greater Philadelphia, seeks a driver and facilities worker to work events, pick and pack materials according to pack sheets, load/unload delivery trucks, deliver products to various locations, and set up in advance. General cleaning skills are also required. You will be required to work weekends.
Candidates must be able to follow verbal and written directions in a timely manner. A valid driver's license is required. Our industry requires excellent attention to detail and follow-up skills. Candidates should be comfortable working all aspects of special events, including but not limited to: room/tent set up, truck loading/unloading, delivering product during events and venue clean-up.
Responsibilities
Event Inventory Management
- Pick, sort, and pack inventory for on- and off-premise events based on assigned pack lists.
- Ensure all event materials are correctly packed and accounted for before departure.
- Maintain pars at each venue, ensuring the appropriate amount of glassware, tableware, and other essential items are stocked.
- Conduct inventory counts and reset the stockpile of event materials at the end of each event week.
Driving & Delivery Services
- Load and unload vehicles efficiently.
- Deliver event materials to designated locations, ensuring all items on the pack list arrive intact.
- Transport larger décor items as needed.
- Plan optimal driving routes in advance, considering traffic and weather conditions.
- Adjust routes as necessary to avoid delays due to traffic or construction.
- Maintain vehicle readiness, including fueling, regular maintenance, and cleanliness (interior & exterior).
- Report vehicle maintenance needs or issues to management promptly.
- Serve as an event-day runner, assisting Event Managers with additional materials.
Venue Maintenance & Repairs
- Restock and clean venue bathrooms as needed.
- Inspect venue exterior for litter (e.g., cigarette butts, trash, glassware) and maintain cleanliness.
- Check interior and exterior lighting, ensuring all bulbs are functional.
Event Setup & Execution
- Set up and sanitize ceremony chairs; wipe down chairs one hour before guest arrival.
- Ensure fire pits are stocked with wood, built, and lit as needed.
- Restore furniture to its proper place, checking for any marks or damages.
- Stay alert to event cleanup needs and assist proactively.
Event Breakdown & Closing Duties
- Break down tables, chairs, and flip event spaces as needed.
- Clear all indoor and outdoor areas of glassware, dishes, and trash.
- Vacuum and clean event spaces.
- Dispose of trash properly and maintain dumpster area organization.
- Sweep outdoor spaces, including ashtray areas.
- Secure the venue by turning off all lights, closing windows, and locking all doors.
Qualifications
- At least one year of driving experience to perform the job safely
- A valid driver’s license
- A clean driving record
- Minimum visual acuity of 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50)
- Familiarity with GPS devices
- Knowledge of area roads and neighborhoods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- A polite and professional disposition
- Time management and organizational skills to keep track of delivered and stay on schedule
- Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour)
- Ability to remain punctual and show up on time for each shift
