Director of Nursing Position Summary
The Director of Nursing is responsible for organizing, implementing, and directing the daily operations of the clinical department in accordance with state and federal regulations. Their leadership role includes the following responsibilities :
Communicate policy and procedures to clinical staff, monitor staff and practices.
Participate in management team meetings related to census, resident care plans, complaints, and concerns as well as QAPI and facility assessments.
Evaluate work performance of all nursing personnel and discipline according to operational policies.
Act in administrative / management capacity in the absence of the Administrator.
Oversees nursing schedules, participates in recruitment, hiring and termination of nursing personnel, and monitors the infection control program.
May provide direct nursing care as necessary.
Ensure resident incidents and concerns that rise to a reportable event are reported to the correct entity within the state regulatory requirements.
Maintain confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written and electronic communications.
Director of Nursing Requirements
Current unrestricted RN license in practicing state
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing home or other related healthcare facility
Current CPR certification
Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices as well as long-term care regulations
