What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Clerk position at Peachtree Packaging & Display?
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Quality Control Clerk (“QCC”) is responsible for helping support all aspects of plant quality including assuring overall product quality, quality reporting, quality standards and process documentation. Also, the QCC will coordinate tracking and communication of daily, weekly and monthly KPI performance for facility specific metrics, and actively engage in improvement activities to enhance overall performance. This position will be responsible for assisting with Continuous Improvement Processes and reports to the Quality Control/Food Safety Team Lead.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for assisting with the Company’s FSSC-22000 Compliance Program.
Responsible for transferring technical data from reports onto computer files in a timely manner.
Reviews documentation, including records, procedures, and forms to ensure quality endpoints and compliance requirements are achieved.
Maintain detailed records of product defects or manufacturing issues as they test and assess products to help identify and eliminate recurring problems and provide a paper trail to aid in accountability and error reporting.
Review and gain an understanding of what the Company’s Food Safety Program includes and will then be responsible for completing unfinished documents.
Assist with checking product with quality issues or suspected issues to identify if items are acceptable to ship.
Sort and inspect items returned due to quality and generate NCR reports to determine cause, effect, and how to prevent the failure from occurring again.
Periodically visit the warehouse to ensure compliance and perform quality checks.
Occasionally meet with customers or visit customers to present on the Company’s Food Safety and Quality Program.
Develop and maintain SOPs, Work Instructions, Checklists, etc.
Organize and document crucial applicable parts of standard quality control programs such as (SPC, 6S, ISO, TQM, HACCP, GMP).
Assist with developing quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.
Assist with developing, maintaining, and validation of all quality processes by learning product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
Document KPI’s and prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
Assist with analyzing lab results or usability tests to identify defects and make sure they do not persist.
Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.
Drive “Zero Defect” mentality; active involvement in developing solutions to process issues that create scrap/rework.
Perform internal, periodic audits to assess compliance to standards and to the internal quality system, including investigation, presentation of observations and findings, and reporting.
Works closely and collaboratively with production leadership to promote awareness achieving controlled quality processes and procedures.
Willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time and work overtime as needed.
Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
Perform other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma/GED required.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 1 year of experience in manufacturing environment.
Minimum 1 year of experience with clerical/secretarial tasks.
Process Engineering or Quality Engineering experience in a production environment is a plus.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
CQE or other related quality certification a plus.
Good print color vision and ability to recognize patters and match details.
Lean Manufacturing, including Six Sigma (6S) Green Belt certification and/or experience a plus.
Experience with the development of Control Plans, Process Flow Charts, Key Process Variables, Capability Studies, and Measurement Systems Analysis a plus.
Experience with Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) or Product Stewardship Programs a plus.
Understand document control processes, evaluate, improve, and design as necessary.
Ability to read a tape measure.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to implement and monitor process controls to ensure actual production is maintained within the specified tolerance limits.
A self-starter with ability to use own initiative to evaluate, challenge, and change process, as needed, to create a more efficient, more positive environment and culture of continuous improvement.
Ability to build strong and collaborative relationships with all levels of management, customers, and auditors.
Proven versatility and flexibility - ability to deal with ambiguity, learn quickly, and adapt.

Excellent attention to detail and sense of urgency, ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work.
Proficient and strong technical writing ability in MS Office Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret CAD files and Print Cards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Talking, hearing, and vision are required over 90% of the time. Standing and walking are required less than 95% of the time. Feeling is required 75% of the time, while pushing, pulling, sitting, twisting, and reaching is required about 50% of the time. Low levels of lifting (10 pounds or less) is required about 5% of the time, while medium levels of lifting and carrying (20 to 50 pounds) are required less than 5% of the time.
