What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pre-Kindergarten Teacher position at Peacock Family Services?
Seeking a creative and loving individual to work with 4-5 year olds in our Pre-Kindergarten programming at Peacock Family Services on beautiful Bainbridge Island.
While a degree or certification in Early Childhood Education is ideal, it is not required. We are looking for flexible and reliable teachers, who do not mind getting on and off the floor, walking around Bainbridge Island, and lifting up to 40 lbs. We are willing to train the right person!
Job Responsibilities:
- Create play based, emergent curriculum for our Pre-Kindergarten programming.
- Communicate with other teachers, staff and parents regarding the health, safety and learning of the children.
- Promote an educational, safe and fun learning environment that also meets developmental needs, requirements set by WAC and Early Achievers expectations.
- Willingness to be flexible with day to day schedules while maintaining daily routines.
- Implement cultural awareness into the classroom and activities. This includes cultural, linguistic and familial values and beliefs into programming and lesson plans.
- Embed age appropriate curriculum into lesson plans that supports exploration, play and social and emotional interactions.
- Twice a year lead Parent/Teacher conferences, and provide assessments of the children.
- Be a part of Individual Education Plan (IEP), progress reports or observations as requested by parents or the district.
- Maintain accurate and organized records, emergency forms, and curricula within the classroom.
