At Peacock, we are working to build an exceptional streaming experience for our users based on a deep understanding of their needs at every stage of the content discovery, validation, and viewing journey. As Director of UX Research, you will serve not only as a strong lead in the execution of UX research, but also in the business on NBCUniversal’s direct to consumer products — balancing user insights with the business acumen that helps to build excellent products.
Reporting to the Vice President of User Research and Consumer Insights, the Director will lead a team of user researchers as they represent the voices of Peacock users to senior stakeholders and decision makers across the organization. As a researcher experienced in mixed methods, you will field both qualitative and quantitative studies, including interviews, diary studies, surveys, and ethnographies, while collaborating with our Analytics and Data Science team to dimensionalize the needs of our users.
Please Note: This is a project/limited term position expected to last 6 months unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.
Responsibilities:
- Leading a high-performing team of user researchers, providing guidance, mentoring, and coaching while setting new standards for methodological rigor and research excellence
- Partnering with stakeholders across the organization to define and prioritize research initiatives that align with business objectives and center user needs
- Owning and driving the User Research roadmap, ensuring stakeholder and product needs are met and well aligned to achieve organizational KPIs and goals
- Communicating research findings effectively, translating complex insights into actionable recommendations for key decision-makers
- Influencing strategic and tactical product roadmaps with cross-functional leadership
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders in Product, Design, Marketing, and Analytics
- Staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, continuously evolving our research methodologies and approaches
- Fostering a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive research culture
- Vendor selection and management
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Anthropology, Statistics, or a related field
- 10 years of experience executing applied research across a number of qualitative and quantitative research methods — including surveys, digital ethnographies, focus groups, etc.
- 8 years of experience leading collaborative efforts across disciplines, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as data storytelling and presentation skills
- 6 years of experience managing, leading, and growing a team of user researchers
- 5 years of consumer product research experience
- Expertise in quantitative and qualitative research study design
- Extensive experience driving strategic product value through stakeholder influence
- Familiarity with behavioral user analytics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Sociology, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Anthropology, Statistics, or a related field
- Expertise in group moderation and facilitation
- 8 years of experience conducting UX research on products
- 5 years of experience driving projects in a large, matrixed organization
