Our Purpose

Peak Asset Management is a fee-only investment management and financial planning firm located in Louisville, CO. Since our founding in 1994, we have empowered clients by earning their trust, sharing our expertise, simplifying the complex, and building and maintaining their financial security. We are a small but mighty firm of inquisitive and compassionate individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit. Our fiduciary responsibilities mean that when it comes to our core values, our clients come first. We currently manage $910 million of assets and continue to invest in the firm and our people for future growth.

Position Overview

Our current Business Manager will be retiring at the end of this year and we are seeking a replacement candidate now to ensure a smooth transition. The Business Manager is a key role responsible for overseeing the firm’s administrative, HR, IT, finance, compliance, and operational functions. This role ensures that Peak Asset Management operates efficiently, securely, and in compliance with industry regulations while maintaining an exceptional client and employee experience.

The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, and proactive. They will take ownership of operational processes and seek continuous improvements to enhance firm efficiency. Additionally, they will have an entrepreneurial mindset, always looking for ways to optimize workflows, reduce inefficiencies, and contribute directly to the firm’s success.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Office Management

  • Oversee day-to-day office operations, ensuring efficiency and organization.
  • Manage vendor relationships, equipment, and office maintenance.
  • Serve as the main contact for custodians, software providers, and third-party vendors.
  • Project management as required.

Human Resources & Payroll Administration

  • Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding, including background checks and documentation.
  • Prepare payroll data and coordinate with payroll providers for accurate processing.
  • Manage employee benefits, including health insurance, enrollment, and renewals.
  • Maintain HR records and regulatory compliance.
  • Address employee questions related to HR policies, time-off tracking, and benefits.

IT & Systems Administration

  • Coordinate with external IT providers to manage technology infrastructure, including computers, software, and phone systems.
  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of CRM, financial planning, and portfolio management software.
  • Ensure cybersecurity measures, data security, and system updates are properly managed.
  • Manage employee system access and security protocols.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for learning new technology and optimizing IT processes.

Compliance & Regulatory Support

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with SEC/state regulations, including recordkeeping and documentation.
  • Support compliance efforts by coordinating with consultants or internal compliance officers.
  • Oversee licensing, continuing education requirements, and regulatory filings for employees.

Accounting & Financial Administration

  • Prepare payroll and work with accounting personnel on accounts payable/receivable.
  • Assist in budgeting, financial reporting, and expense tracking.
  • Handle business insurance applications, renewals, and claims.
  • Support bookkeeping functions and regulatory financial reporting.

Vendor & Custodian Management

  • Serve as the main contact for custodians, software providers, and third-party vendors.
  • Negotiate and oversee vendor contracts, including IT support, office supplies, and facility services.
  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure quality service and cost efficiency.

Client & Advisor Support

  • Work with data management systems, including CRM and client reporting software.
  • Oversee billing and invoicing processes for client accounts.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5 years of related experience in business operations, HR, payroll, finance, or compliance, preferably within a financial services firm.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRMs (we use Wealthbox), and portfolio management reporting software (we use Tamarac).
  • Experience with payroll preparation, benefits administration, and IT systems.
  • Understanding of RIA compliance, custodial relationships, and financial industry best practices.

Compensation

  • Salary range: $75,000 - $95,000 based on level of experience.
  • A fully paid medical plan is available at over 24 hours per week.
  • Participation in our 401(k) plan with a 6% matching contribution.
  • Variable compensation includes a profit-sharing bonus based on personal performance and company success.
  • Educational reimbursement for obtaining and maintaining professional designations.
