About the Job:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides strategic leadership as the patient care executive responsible for all patient care functions and patient services within the hospital. The COO is responsible for facilitating, directing, and coordinating operational activities and programs of assigned departments relative to the day-to-day operations of the hospital through the delivery of cost effective and quality services. Participates in the general management of the hospital in close support of the CEO in order that the hospital achieves its operating and clinical objectives. assuring high quality care, sound fiscal operations, maintaining a strong referral base and compliance with laws and regulations.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manages one or more clinical and non-clinical departments efficiently and effectively to maximize cost effective quality of services and drives patient care outcomes.
- Creates an environment and culture that focuses on fulfilling the organizations mission, vision and values. Manages and implements programs to ensure all employees are committed to quality and service.
- Leads a team of highly engaged members thru hiring, orienting, performance assessment and management, motivating, training, scheduling, and coaching to meet department goals and ensure effective and efficient department operation.
- Actively participates in strategic planning and corresponding development activities including census building, regulatory preparedness and quality improvement.
- In CEO’s absence, operates the facility within that capacity.
- Assists the CEO in collaborative efforts related to the development, communication and implementation of effective strategies and processes.
- Assists with budgets and spending to ensure departments operate within funding limits and meets financial objectives.
- Evaluates operational processes by analyzing business objectives and patient needs.
- Ensures hospital quality metrics are achieved through sound clinical processes following accreditation and regulatory agency guidelines.
- Develops positive relationships with local industry, local government, potential key health care providers, and the public.
- Ensures the timely submission of month-end financial and operational reviews, contributes to the development of and participation in corporate-wide strategic planning efforts.
- Effectively manages contract negotiations and compliance with the commercial payor community.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Social Science or a related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Five or more years’ of hands-on experience in the behavioral health field required.
- Three or more years’ supervisory/management experience required, preferably in social/clinical services.
- Independent clinical licensure (LPCC, LMFT, LWSW) preferred.
