About the Job:
Peak Energy is looking for a Thermal Analyst – ESS, to support the development of our gigawatt scale energy storge system. This person will be a primary contributor in thermal design decisions, from architecture to optimization to validation. They will work design and manufacturing partners, along with external partners, to provide engineering trades and guidance. This person has strong fundamentals while bringing a practical and can-do attitude to the role.
Responsibilities:
- Thermal Analysis
- Perform detailed thermal analysis of storage systems, including transient and steady-state heat transfer simulations.
- Develop thermal management strategies to optimize system performance
- Collaborate with design engineers to integrate thermal management solutions into overall system design.
- Propose design modifications to enhance thermal performance.
- Simulation and Modeling:
- Develop and validate simulation models for thermal analysis.
- Utilize advanced computational tools and techniques, such as finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
- Testing and Validation:
- Design and oversee experimental tests to validate models and predictions.
- Analyze test data and incorporate findings into design improvements.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
- Present analysis results and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Drive and participate in a culture of rapid protoyping and testing

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to thermal engineering
- 2 years of experience working with 3D thermal simulations
- Proficiency in simulation software such as Star-CCM or COMSOL
- Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and driving positive environmental impact through technology innovations.
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with large scale battery storage systems
- Experience with hands on testing and model validation
- Experience with cell modeling
