What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Exercise Instructor position at Peak Fitness-Kerrville?
BASIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School graduate/GED preferred.
2. Valid nationally recognized Group Exercise Instructors Certification
3. Valid HeartSaver CPR/AED Certification as a minimum, required. Must be through American Heart Association.
4. Previous experience in a health club preferred, as a Group Exercise Instructor, but not required.
5. Must have excellent people skills including ability to multi task, prioritize, and work with all aspects of the public
6. Requires the ability to communicate effectively, diplomatically & sometimes assertively with members
7. Reliable transportation required.
8. Proof of Work Authorization and proof of Identity per IRCA.
9. Position requires the physical ability to easily lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds. Position requires twisting, turning, bending, stooping and sitting or standing for prolonged periods.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Primarily responsible for setting up for class, cleaning up after class, instructing and turning in attendance of group exercise classes.
SUPERVISION:
Is supervised by the Fitness Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead structured exercise classes. Assist with maintenance of exercise equipment (i.e. hand weights, stability balls, tubing, kickboxing equip. bikes, etc.) and sweeping of floors. Assist in the planning and implementation of group exercise special events. Educate participants on proper form, contraindications, and modification moves. Show respect and responsibility for all equipment. Enforce all facility and program policies. Attend instructor meetings. Arrive on time prepared to begin and end class on time. Teach agreed upon classes each week. Responsible for own class coverage when unavailable to attend. Inform supervisor of vacation plans and who will be substituting.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follows all policies and procedures of the Peak Fitness. Performs all other tasks requested by management.
