Medical Assistant Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant will help the Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, PA’s, and Physical Therapists in the diagnostic testing, examination, education, and treatment of patients.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Escorts patients to exam rooms, takes detailed medical histories, and determines the reason for the visit. Checks patients’ vital signs.
- Alerts Providers to changes in patient status, abnormal vitals if applicable, pain scale, etc.
- Annotates patient charts with vital signs and appropriate testing results.
- Assists with office procedures including wound care and stitches.
- Performs drug and alcohol screenings, maintaining compliance with Federal protocols.
- Performs other clinical tests such as vision, hearing, lung capacity, respirator fittings, EKG’s, and physical lifting tests.
- Performs blood draws and schedules laboratory testing as appropriate.
- Schedules appointments, verifies times with patients, and prepares charts, intake, and consent forms. May be required to coordinate care with other providers.
- May be required to coordinate with pharmacies and authorize prescriptions based on Provider’s orders.
- Maintains knowledge of clinic protocols and procedures.
- Sends out HIPAA – compliant information to appropriate parties after patient appointments.
- Completes other Administrative or Clinical tasks as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent time-management, organization skills, and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma (or GED) plus Medical Assistant Certification, or EMT Certification.
- Experience in Electronic Medical Records systems preferred.
- Experience in Drug and Alcohol collections preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times, and demonstrate various physical testing requirements.
- Must be vaccinated for COVID-19 and be able to receive a yearly Flu vaccine.
