- The Texas state agency dedicated to funding cancer research, prevention, and early detection efforts.
- Review and analyze grant recipient financial records, including general ledger transactions, payroll documentation (time sheets, pay reports), and vendor invoices, to ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions.
- Ensure that fiscal requirements and accounting practices are consistently applied to grants, adhering to relevant regulations and standards.
- Provide expert guidance and support to grant recipients, offering written and verbal consultations to ensure clarity on fiscal procedures and requirements.
- Regularly monitor the financial status of grants, ensuring timely and accurate tracking of expenditures and balances.
- Review and process quarterly grant financial reports, ensuring all data is accurate and aligns with grant requirements.
- Organize, review, and present fiscal data in a clear, logical, and readable format, making it easily accessible for stakeholders.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency of the grant accounting process.
- At least one year of experience in grant accounting, including grant reimbursements and reconciliations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience and education may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Familiarity with grant accounting within a State of Texas agency, including reviewing and processing grant expense transactions, is a plus.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, auditing standards, compliance monitoring, and grant accounting practices. Knowledge of the Texas Grant Management Standards ( TxGMS ), which replaced UGMS, is preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, plan, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring compliance and precision in all aspects of financial analysis and reporting.
- Strong analytical skills to review, interpret, and apply complex fiscal information.
- Effective communication skills (oral and written) to interact with both internal and external stakeholders, resolve discrepancies, and provide clear guidance on fiscal matters.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word is required, with advanced Excel skills strongly preferred.
- Rate: $ 37.00/hour.
- Length of Engagement: Through August 31, 2025 with potential for extension and permanent full-time employment status with the state.
- Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
- Location: Remote, but eligible candidates must reside in Texas.
- Must come onsite to pick up equipment in Austin, TX.
