Evaluates and estimates the cost of roofing projects for commercial properties, assessing scope, creating detailed cost estimates, and collaborating with contractors, clients, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Assessment
- Visit commercial properties to assess existing roofing systems, identify damage, and determine roof condition.
- Measure roof areas, gather data on roof materials, access points, and structural features.
- Analyze roof plans and blueprints for accurate measurements and assessments.
- Estimating and Costing
- Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates for roofing projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and additional costs.
- Evaluate different roofing options (asphalt, metal, EPDM, TPO) and recommend cost-effective, suitable materials.
- Factor in overhead costs, safety requirements, and potential contingencies.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and suppliers for timely, accurate project planning.
- Communicate with clients to understand project requirements, expectations, and budget constraints.
- Provide clear, concise written estimates with itemized breakdowns.
- Procurement and Supplier Coordination
- Solicit bids and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for roofing materials and services.
- Negotiate pricing and ensure the project remains within budget.

- Project Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, contracts, and correspondence related to roofing projects.

- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; degree in construction management or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in commercial roofing, with a strong background in estimating or project management.
- Skills: Knowledge of roofing materials, systems, and installation methods. Proficient in using estimating software (EDGE). Strong mathematical and analytical skills for accurate cost calculation. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and building plans. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Ability to perform site inspections and measurements.
- Typically work in an office environment with frequent travel to project sites.
